Before and After.  Artwork by Julie Townsend.

Before:  This 1956 Gretsch Duo Jet came in for restoration.  It's owner passed away and fortunately his son rescued this classic vintage guitar from going to the burn pile.  The metal parts were badly corroded and the neck was loose.  Also the bridge was missing.  At one point someone drilled holes and installed the pickguard in the left hand position. The goal: to make the guitar playable and pleasing to look at while keeping it as original as possible.
After:  Success! The neck was removed and reset.  The Bigsby vibrato, pickup covers and knobs were cleaned, buffed and polished. The left hand pickguard screw holes were filled and the finish touched up. The finish was also cleaned, buffed and polished.  Fingerboard cleaned and oiled and frets buffed and polished.  The bridge is a new Synchrosonic bridge which was the type of bridge originally used.  Fortunately the electronics were still in good shape - just needed a little cleaning. I always enjoy taking a guitar that is not playable and turning it back into an instrument that can be played for years to come.  This guitar is over 50 years old and can be enjoyed for another 50 years.
Before:  This '60's vintage Kay Vanguard guitar was purchased by my customer at a garage sale for $10.00.  Someone had decopaged the guitar in camouflage wallpaper.  One of the pickups was bad and the wooden bridge had deteriorated.
After:  The guitar got a Wimbledon White paint job,  a custom cut tortoise shell pickguard, new bridge, Gibson humbucking pickups, new electronics and tuners..
